The yearly buzz of the season has again begun
Christmas songs being played all around
Sparkly lights wrapped around houses and tall trees
Everyone’s anticipating the holidays with glee
The gifts roll in, food and drinks all for free
Some of the best parties, bashes and jams all hold around this period we see
And if I ask why the merry making,
The answers I get are all somewhat amazing.
Sometimes I hear come on it’s Christmas, it’s necessary
Or don’t you know Jesus was born this period, the celebration is compulsory
Some say it’s the best time of the year celebrate it with joy
How you spice it with engaging events is all your choice
HALT, let’s CONCUR, lest this becomes OBSCURED
How much of a repeated event is tagged a ritual
Has Christmas turned into a label borne by many,
Its true essence made infinitesimal
You’ll agree with me that when a thing is done the same way repeatedly, it becomes monotonous.
And most times, a routine we follow so oblivious
Of the origin, meaning and purpose of this celebration and his it affects us.
YOU SEE….
The exhilarating feeling that cones with the season remains undoubtedly incomparable
But here’s a question…
How much of the overwhelming euphoric feeling remains in you 3 months past December?
And how much of the dandy proceedings do u remember?
Do we really understand this phenomenon?
Or will it just be another communion?
BUT OF COURSE NOT IT SHOULDN’T!
Here, the words from The Holy Book
Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given
For He will save the world,…REDEEMING GRACE…redemption excessive, surpassing all comparison
This is life, The father’s love came down
This is Christmas,
Coming into cognizance
And to the old thoughts, sin and death good riddance
For every believer, our turning point
Now our pride is to say
I do not follow the bandwagon,
Yes I do not just celebrate Christmas out of a necessity
But I believe and celebrate the birth of Christ
For this happening, I was given hope and peace
All of my worries, troubles and shame he turned it, peace be still
The king of kings, beloved saviour
Born in a manger, what an irony
Despite man’s bullying and tyranny
His love is until infinity
And so with all beauty
I put CHRIST before MAS
And more so today I exist because He was born
In Him I live, I move and have my being.
THIS IS MY REDEMPTION SONG
